Camps in Kenya - The Mara Timbo
The camp is german run, located belowe the oloololo escarpment bordering the Mara River and sitting on the edge of the Masai Mara Game reserve. The region between the Mara River and the Esoit Oloolo form expansive rolling plains and provide a great sight to view animals in their natural habitat. The camp offers 5-star standard in accommodation, cuisine, wilderness experience, game drives and cultural knowledge. The seven luxury tents are spacious with en-suite bathrooms, African blended interior dcor, private veranda with outdoor bathtub and luxury sitting area. Grass thatched roofing, providing cool temperatures during the day.

Each tend is equipped with a king-size bed, a safe, bathroom with both cold and hot showers, double sinks, a flush toilet, 220/240 power supple plus a host of other amenities that are needed to make a guests stay at the camp memorable. The tents have a plenty of space, so moving around is easy. The tents are not only stylishly done but have a romantic appeal as well. A female butler is assigned to each tent, ensuring each guest receives personalized attention. The butlers are well trained and very knowledgeable about the camp and the encompassing Masai Mara game reserve.

The camp has a restaurant that provides sumptuous meals. Visitors have a choice of three menus that have three course meals to choose from with one of them being vegetarian. Candle lit dinner is organized under the open skies next to a roaring campfire. The restaurant has a bar and lounge which are artfully decorated with cosy chairs that make you want to laze away the evening. There is a well stocked reference library for the avid readers.

The Mara Timbo goes a step ahead and introduces a message parlour known as the message tree house. You feeling all relaxed and at rest after a session of aromatherapy with specialy chosen oils. It gets even better, you get to glimpse a view of the river as you get your message.

Animal's sightings in this camp are an everyday, normal occurrence. You will not fail to see the two families of hippos that inhabit the Mara River from the very comfort of your lounge. Nature walks, night drives, bird watching, and cultural drives can be organized. The Masai Mara National park is laden with animals such as elephants, giraffes, buffalos, leopards, lions. This and many other species of animals make it interesting to look out for the wild game.

The camp operates a well stocked gift shop located near the main area. The stocks include films, souvenirs, t-shirts, hats, Masai beadwork crafted by local Masai women. Other suppliers for the gift shop include Kenya kanga, Marula studios and Kenya beads.

The Masai Mara isa 40 minute flight away from Nairobi Wilson airport. The Mara Timbo is located near the Oloololo gate of Masai National Reserve and the kichwa Tembo Tembi airstrip. Guests have the option of being picked up at the Kichwa Tembo airstrip and transferred to the camp. The drive to the camp is a first hand experience of the Mara, you get not only to ogle at the scenery but the animals also.
